John 21:15-17 (NIV)
When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?" "Yes, Lord," he said, "you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my lambs."
(Q: agapaō - to welcome, to entertain, to be fond of, to love dearly)
(A: phileō – to like, to treat affectionately or kindly, to welcome, befriend)
Again Jesus said, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me?" He answered, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Take care of my sheep."

The third time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" He said, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my sheep.

Phileo – warm fuzzies – emotion?
Agapao – actual love – action (cleaning up vomit at 3 am because kid threw up)
Peter, you said you would follow me to death but you abandoned me just as I told you that you would. Are you ready now to prove that you love me by your actions?
Jesus, I made some promises and claims that I can not back up. I'm not ready to repeat that mistake. All I can tell you is that I care about our friendship.
Peter, I'll repeat the question. Are you ready to back up your words with actions?
Jesus, I'll tell you again. For now, I can just tell you we are friends. Why don't we let things stand the test of time before I commit to more.
Peter, do you want our friendship to be what it was a week ago? Do you want it to get better?
Jesus, now I'm offended. You are God – you know my heart better than I know it. You know my thoughts better than I know them. You know I care about you and yes, I want things the way they were. I want things to improve.
Peter, to get to where you want to be, you have to take action. Do not just say the words – do something about them.
