Mr Holland's Opus: Lessons to live by.
- Demand excellence. Don't just settle for acceptable.
- Don't expect anything from anyone unless you are willing to give of yourself.
- Do deeper than skin deep.
- It is OK to allow others into the intimate moments of your life.
- Kudos are important. Take the time to recognize achievements in the lives of those around you.
- There are no limits to what can be accomplished. Makes sure that you do not accidentally (or intentionally) impose limits on others that prevent them from dreaming big dreams.
- Memento's are important. They remind us of the trials we have been through and the struggles we have triumphed over.
- Kids need to hear that they are good at something. Discover what it is and TELL THEM.
- Know the boundaries - do not cross them - EVER!
- Don't neglect your family in order to do "Important things". Your family IS the Important Thing!
- Don't let it take a tragedy to finally get your attention.
